What are the rules of blogging?

What I am wondering is how often do you have to make an entry for it to constitute a blog? I have come to the new entry page on a few occasions and not felt inspired to write anything at all. Once every two months? Does that count or should I be getting it together to write more? Or is this a deflection technique from what I am really supposed to be doing today? Perhaps I should get going.

This is a blog

This is my first blog entry - if that is the correct terminology. I have had this available to me for a while but have not entered anything. Blogs are peculiar things in that you have to ask why anybody would want to read the random thoughts of someone who they may or may not know and who may or may not have any knowledge or anything of particular interest to say.

I spend a lot of time thinking about nothing as an idea and am now thinking about this blog as nothing. Will it be read? There are so many blogs (the more you use that word the uglier it becomes) and so few readers. But why would we listen? Why does someone have better, more valuable knowledge than someone else? Why does someone at the scene have more interest than, say, a trained journalist who may have years of experience and an overview of a situation not available to the person on the scene?

I'm getting a little carried away with pointless speculation. If you've stuck with it this far then thank you.
